Here's what we were working with - a beat-up, rotting porch that had basically given up. The structure underneath was deteriorated, the decking was shot, and it wasn't doing the homeowner any favors in terms of safety or usability. This is the kind of thing you keep putting off until you just can't anymore.
We stripped it down to nothing and started fresh. New framing, new decking, new posts set on concrete footings - and then we went a step further and added a full covered roof over the whole thing. That's the upgrade that really changes how you use a space. Rain, sun, whatever - you're covered.
The railing came out clean and solid. Evenly spaced vertical balusters, a sturdy top rail, and a proper stair run off the side. It's not flashy, but it's built right. That matters more than anything when it comes to a structure people are stepping on and leaning against every single day.
What we take seriously on every job - no matter the size - is how we leave the site. The old porch materials, the scraps, all of it gets hauled off. We don't leave a mess for the homeowner to deal with. That's just part of the job as far as we're concerned.
A project like this is a good example of what a home remodel addition can do even on a smaller scale. You're not just replacing something worn out - you're genuinely adding functional outdoor living space. Bigger deck, overhead protection, and a structure that's built to last.
